Hot on the heels of the announcement that Oliver Proudlock and Jamie Lang are coming to Australia this June, we caught up with the boys to get all the insider goss about Made in Chelsea.
Here is our exclusive interview with Proudlock -
Will this be your first trip to Australia?
No I have been a couple of times, as my sister and her family live in Sydney. Having visited two Christmas’ ago with Caggie, I even contemplated moving there!!
What are you most excited about seeing while you're here?
I have only ever visited Sydney so I am looking forward to experiencing the other cities while we are there. I can’t wait for the beach, the Aussies, and of course my family out there!!
We have just finished up Series 3 in Australia, what can we expect from Series 4?!
I don’t want to give too much away, but as always there is a lot of drama!! I think people have become more familiar with each of the characters by the end of series 3 that the story lines are allowed to become more personal. There are some big surprises and even some new characters…
Any new cast members?
Yes, there are quite a few new characters introduced in season 4. Boys and girls, bringing a new dimension to the show, and an added drama.
Any hot new girls you are dating or lusting after?
I get caught up in a love triangle…
What have heard about Australians dress sense? Will you be bringing your fashion label downunder?
Having visited Australia a couple of times, I am fully aware of how awesome the dress sense is there. The fashion industry there is very innovative, and seems to be going from strength to strength. Everytime I return home, I feel very inspired. I will be introducing my brand to a few people while I am there, it would be a dream to be stocked downunder, so fingers crossed!!
Since you've started on the show, how have you dealt having your personal life in the public arena?
Being on the show has of course slightly changed our lives, and it is very surreal to know that so many people who you have never met know so much about your life. I think it is very important to keep level headed, and to not get too caught up in all the drama. I work hard on Serge DeNimes and it’s great to be able to throw myself into the business. I have great people around me and whilst it’s not nice to see my personal life in the public arena, it comes with the territory!
What's a typical filming day for you guys?
It depends on the scenario. If it’s an event day, which usual involves the whole cast, then it is very long with a lot of sitting around in between scenes etc. Outside of that usually filming with Jamie and Francis messing around.
Why do you think the show has been such a big success?
I often ask myself this. I guess a lot of it is to do with the way the show is shot, it is very slick and portrays a glamorous environment embedded with drama. I think it is a nice escape for people, and over time I guess they build a certain bond with the story lines and certain characters. To start I think it was peoples guilty pleasure, whereas now I think people actually really like the show.
What are you both up to outside the show? Any exciting projects on the go?
Since a young age I have always been creative, and my interests strongly lie within art, fashion and music. Outside of the show, these are the three things that I focus on through my various projects. I have my own clothes company Serge DeNimes, which has been going for 2 years this June. As well as this I have my own style blog, proudlockstyle.com and art website. All these projects can be seen through my personal homepage oliverproudlock.com. I have just finished designing a range of shoes for Oliver Sweeney which has been really exciting for me, and I have a few other collaborations coming out later in the year.
