Emmy Awards 2019: How the actresses over 40 stole the show!

The 71st Emmy Awards are a glittering evening of statues, gossip and fashion - but this year it wasn't the young starlets who sashayed down the red carpet and stole the show.

In 2019, all eyes were on the actresses who impressed us with their sense of style and fashion, and who are all over 40.

Here's our pick of the favourites.

Naomi Watts

Looking effortlessly and classically glam, Australian actress Naomi Watts, 50, from The Loudest Voice went for a strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline, no accessories and a very simple hairstyle - and it worked beautifully.

Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh first shot to fame in Grey's Anatomy but it is her role in Killing Eve  that saw her own the red carpet this year. Wearing a flattering pink gown, she went for a simplistic up-do and minimal make-up to great success.

Amy Poehler

If you're going to host the Emmys, why not do it in a gold jumpsuit? Amy, 48, looked relaxed and comfortable with her hands in her pockets in this jaw-dropping number. The loose black tie adds a splash of contrast to the gold which only added to the effect.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

Wow! Catherine Zeta-Jones, 49, proudly walked the red carpet with her husband, Michael Douglas, in a bright pink frock which showed off her curves beautifully! She even went for a wedge-stiletto so she could tower over her husband even more!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

This might be her last chance to walk a red carpet as the star of Veep, but Seinfeld's Julia didn't let the moment pass her by, after opting for this gold number with a thigh-high split and a low-cut bodice. Julia, 58, admitted that it was "really neat" to be nominated again for an Emmy - which might be a slight understatement!

Isla Fisher

Another Aussie steals the show! While metallics were the hit of the night, Isla Fisher, 43, opted for silver rather than gold as she walked down the red carpet with husband and comedian Sasha Baron-Cohen.
