Charlize Theron has copped a barrage of insults on social media after she dressed her adopted son up as his favourite princess, Elsa from Frozen.
Images of four-year-old Jackson wearing a blonde wig and a dress sent Twitter into a spin with people slamming the actress for using her child to make a political statement about gender.
The stunt certainly backfired for Charlize with some labelling her racist for adopting a black child and then dressing him up as a white girl.
Shame on Charlize Theron for allowing her black adopted SON to dress up in a blonde wig & a dress. Very unacceptable pic.twitter.com/TTXctDo8jo— Marcellus X (@_Uncensorable) August 25, 2016
Is @CharlizeAfrica crazy?? What kind of parent does this to a child?? Why would you adopt this young black boy and then degrade him??— Lesboja78 (@lesboja1978) August 24, 2016
The award-winning actress adopted Jackson from her homeland South Africa and has been vocal about his love of princesses in the past. Earlier this year, she told Jimmy Kimmel of his obsession with Elsa, but it seems allowing him to dress up as the character was a step too far for some.
However, after Charlize’s parenting made headlines around the world, many were quick to defend the actress and her son.
Here's a thought: maybe Charlize Theron's son WANTED to wear the dress? Crazy, I know. Letting him have his own identity and all.— ??? The Tactician (@sixmyths) August 25, 2016

Charlize Theron's son wanted to dress up as Elsa. Great parenting. Your kid can do what they like, its not gonna "make them gay"— Greeney (@JamesGreeney) August 25, 2016
The tweets regarding Charlize Theron's son dressing up as Elsa from frozen are disgusting, small minded and verging on homo/transphobic.— LEON/CÉ (@LXONR) August 24, 2016
Charlize is yet to respond.
