Channing Tatum to Star in 'Splash' Remake

Channing Tatum is diving into a new role as a mermaid in Disney's remake of Splash.

Following the announcement of a Beaches remake, Disney announced it is in talks to remake the 1984 hit, Splash.

The original film starred Tom Hanks as a man who falls in love with a mermaid, played by Daryl Hannah.

Channing Tatum is already flagged to star in the film, but with one major twist: he will take the role of the mermaid!

Like the recent remake of Ghostbusters and the upcoming production of Ocean's Eleven, Splash will also receive the gender-swap treatment.

Set to assume the role played by Tom Hanks is relative newcomer, Jillian Bell.

Jillian and Channing previously worked together on the film, 22 Jump Street.

Disney is currently in talks with Ron Howard's production company, Imagine Entertainment, to reboot the rom-com classic, Variety reports.

While the deal isn't set in stone, we think the only thing left to ponder is whether or not merman Channing will spend the entire film shirtless.
