Celine Dion's husband and former manager has passed away, aged 73.
Rene Angelil met the 'My Heart Will Go On' singer when she was just 12 years old, when he mortgaged his home to get her career of the ground.
The pair began dating when Celine was 19 and were later married in December 1994.
Rene had a long history of health problems, including throat cancer which he has battled since 1998. After supposedly beating his first diagnosis, Rene was diagnosed with throat cancer for a second time in 2014.
He had surgery, removing much of his tongue and throat, forcing him to lose some of his speech.
During this time Celine postponed her career to care for her husband.
In September last year, Celine Dion revealed her husband's cancer was terminal - estimating he had only weeks to live. He passed away on January, 14.
The pair share three children, Rene Charles, 14, and twins, Eddy and Nelson, aged 5.
A statement from the family's representative stated:
"Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer. The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment."
PEOPLE reports Rene died "under the care of a physician", due to natural causes.
