It has been a terrible week for Celine Dion.
On January 14, the 47-year-old singer lost her husband of 21 years to a long battle with cancer.
Over the weekend, she also farewelled her brother, Daniel, aged 59.
Daniel lost his life to brain, tongue and throat cancer - the same cancer that plagued Celine's late husband, Rene Angelil, E! reports.
Daniel is one of Celine's 13 older siblings, and the eighth child in their large French-Canadian family.
In a statement released by Celine's rep, Daniel is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren.
"His final days were spent in the care of the staff and volunteers at the palliative care centre Maison Adhémar-Dion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the centre would be appreciated," the statement said.
"The family requests that in honour of their brother’s memory, their privacy be respected in this time of grief."
Last week, Celine's husband and former manager Rene Angelil passed away at the age of 73.
He and Celine had been married since 1994, and had dated since the 'My Heart Will Go On' singer was only 19.
