Best Dressed

The spring/summer runways ran rampant with dresses of all shapes and styles. So whether you’re after something girly, sophisticated or a little bit edgy, there’s a dress to fulfil your every fashion whim. Here’s our pick of this season’s best:

The Body-Con

Just when you thought the LBD couldn’t get any better, Herve Leger’s ultimate curve-controlling bandage dress was re-introduced and the body-con phenomenon was born. Taking runways and red-carpets around the world by storm, this season the body-con (as in, ‘body-conscious’ due to the flattering silhouette it provides) has gone from strength to strength – getting shorter, tighter and a whole lot sexier in the process. The introduction of the body-con-skirt-teamed-with-singlet-or-loose-tee has also seen the look take on a more casual feel.

Wear it with: bondage-style ankle boots, a funky leather jacket and minimal accessories for maximum effect.

The Goddess

You don’t need to be a celebrity attending a red-carpet event to flaunt floor-length. Flowing silks, draped chiffon and loose, plunging necklines are all part of this season’s Grecian goddess trend and they’re guaranteed to make you feel deliciously divine whatever the occasion. Opt for something sheer, embroidered or embellished for celestial elegance, or a sturdier more structured fabric for a glam daytime look.

Wear it with: gladiator flats, bejewelled platforms or super strappy heels.

The Flapper

Depression chic is back, but there’s nothing dismal about it. Combining classic tassels with new-season lace, frills and fringing, the 1920s flapper-style dress re-emerged on the runway with a modern-day twist and the results are nothing less than gorgeous. Everyone from Alberta Ferretti and Jil Sander, to Roberto Cavalli and Miu Miu are getting into the swing of it and so should you!

Wear it with: court-shoes, patterned tights and a slicked-back bun.
