What would you say about your appearance prior to the makeover?
My appearance was typical public service, dark suit with white shirt. I was hiding under these clothes, trying to blend in with the crowd, and “look” the part. Black stockings “topped” off the look, with black shoes – very drab and uninspiring. Not to mention too big, and untailored. Just prior to the show I had lost 20Kg (well actually 18), and I was still wearing larger clothes. I even had a quirky kind of cuff link, which I tried to hide under my long dark sleeves of my jacket. That’s the practical mum coming through. Bleach blonde hair added to the monotone look. Over all, drab and uninspiring.
What was the BEST part of the Makeover?
Meeting Susannah and Trinny of course, but also taking their look on the catwalk. Meeting all the others was also fantastic, and watching their incredible transformations. We couldn’t recognise each other after the incredible job done by Trinny, Susannah and their team. They were totally full on, and totally inspirational. The life of a model is certainly an exciting experience. Having a team of professionals buzzing around making you look your best – I would do it again in a flash.....
What was the WORST part of the Makeover?
9 inch heels are absolutely fabulous if you have walked on them from day dot. Unfortunately this was not me, so I was a bit rickety (well very unstable – even with practice) , and got rather sore feet on the night. I am dead jealous of Elle Macpherson and those competitive dancers on “so you think you can dance” who can move with ease, and look STUNNING. I still have the heels, and do practice on them, so I am getting better, but am not yet confident to take them out in public. I will work on that.
What was the best advice Trinny & Susannah gave you?
This would be to not be frightened of my height and my long legs. I now wear clothes to accent my legs and tall body, and use body moisturiser to ensure they always look the best. I am also bringing a bit of feminine into my wardrobe, though I still am hesitant to change my office wear. Also I have updated my shoe wear, with some nice boots with heals and some flats. Jewellery and belts is still to come.
How has the Makeover changed your life?
I have the voice of Trinny in the back of my mind when choosing clothes now, looking at their shape and colour, and how they combine together. Holding clothes together and trying different combinations. I also have more idea of tailoring at home (that practical mum will be with me always) so that I can make my clothes just right. I have a lot more confidence in my personal style. Looking at trends, and using them to create a wardrobe in my own style, and enjoying the attention when I go out.
