What would you say about your appearance prior to the Makeover?
I would say that my appearance prior to the makeover was boring and predictable, even sloppy. Definitely frumpy. I dressed for comfort and practicality.
What was the BEST part of the Makeover?
The best part was the end result – I looked good and that made me feel good about myself again. After the show my son told me I was beautiful, before that day I can’t remember him ever saying that to me before and that made me feel really special.
What was the WORST part of the Makeover?
Besides wearing those very high, very uncomfortable shoes the worst part of the makeover was that it made me realise a few things about myself that I didn’t really want to acknowledge. It matters to me what other people think of me - not only my appearance but me as a person. I was terrified walking out onto that stage and I could not work out why, it only really occurred to me a few days later after having time to process everything in my head that I was afraid of what people would think of me - that fat girl! I suppose you could say that it was also the best thing that happened to me, I don’t focus on that so much now. As long as I have my family who love me and I feel good about myself then it doesn’t matter.
What was the best advice Trinny & Susannah gave you?
It is really hard to say what the best advice they gave me was. It was more that they showed me what I could do with the body I have. But if you want specifics I suppose the best fashion tip was that if I wear leggings that stop just under the knee I can wear short dresses and my legs won’t look really gross :)
How has the Makeover changed your life?
I pay more attention to what I am wearing, I try more things on that I would have never looked twice at before. I am dressing to enhance my best "bits" but also not focusing as much on trying to hide the things I have always hated (my bum) I am now just trying to make it appear more flattering.
