Finding the perfect foundation isn’t easy, so could this be the answer to all your problems?
Whether it’s struggling to find the right shade, or searching for the picture-perfect finish, foundation hunting isn’t for the faint hearted.
While my shade isn’t difficult, I want a lightweight, buildable coverage base with a dewy (not shiny) finish, and getting all three needs in one sometimes proves tough.
It seems logical that Beautyblender would follow up their famous teardrop-shaped sponge with the perfect foundation, which happens to promise all three of my above prerequisites.
What is it?
The Beautyblender Bounce Liquid Whip Long-Wear Foundation touts itself as a weightless, full-coverage product that gives you a bare-skin feel.
The revolutionary whipped liquid claims that it gives a velvet finish without being cakey – no matter how much or how little you apply - thanks to the hyaluronic acid infusion.
One of the best things from a face-value point of view is that it comes in 40 different shades, so there’s bound to be one that is perfect for you.
Also, there are no nasties in this product. It's free from parabens, phthalates, oils or sulfates, and is cruelty-free and vegan.
How does it really perform?
To apply Bounce, I grabbed a Beautyblender sponge and used two pumps of the foundation, which gave me medium to full coverage. If I were going for a daytime look, one pump would easily suffice.
Full disclosure, I’m not a matte finish kinda girl as I have dry skin (flakes of foundation-covered skin is not a good look) so I was interested to see how this product would suit me.
Bounce really did glide on and was super easy to blend. I was surprised at how light the liquid was and how it didn’t catch on my dry spots.
The finished result was a great matte finish that still had a hint of dewiness. I was most impressed with how well it evened out my skin tone and gave my skin an all-over smoothing effect - I didn’t even feel the need to apply concealer.
As for how long it lasted, I was out on a boat in the wind for the entire day and by night time it still looked the same as when I’d applied it. Usually I need to touch up around my eyes at the end of the day when wearing foundation, as it cakes around my fine lines, but I was happy to find that Bounce was still sitting smooth.
For the next round of Bounce foundations I’d love to see it include SPF, but for now I’m enjoying my new love of a matte finish – without the dryness.
