Autumn/Winter Beauty Trends

Goodbye coral. So long yellow. Summer has packed its bags for another year and autumn is moving in. It’s time to change over your wardrobe and your vanity case. So what should you restock your beauty loot with? Here’s a little preview of the hottest looks this season ...

Think matte, think metallic. That’s the message for nails this year. Gunmetal grey is the colour du jour and we’re rather pleased because it goes with just about every conceivable outfit choice!

Good news from New York Fashion Week: it's ok to not be perfect. This was the message Zac Posen and Marc Jacobs sent when they sent their models down the runway with dishevelled yet chic hair. Give your hairdryer a rest this season and let your hair dry naturally with a little de-frizz product for good measure.

"After seasons of bronze, green and purple peepers, many makeup artists are exploring a blue period,” says make-up guru Napoleon Perdis. “Unlike the pale hues of the 80s, the new take on blue eye shadow is decidedly vibrant and vivacious.” The easiest way to integrate this trend into your beauty routine is to use blue mascara. If you’re feeling brave, try a bold blue powder shadow and line the rim of your eye.

Thanks to Lady Gaga false lashes are back and bigger than ever. A great set of falsies are an easy way to make your eyes pop and you’ll hardly even know you’re wearing them. Just take make-up artist Jodi Oliver’s advice and keep the rest of your makeup simple – “When you use lashes that are so full-on, you have to tone the rest down.”

With bright and bold eyes dominating the beauty look this season it’s best to play down your pout. Nude lips were huge at the Grammy Awards this year and it’s an easy look to re-create. Pair your nude lipstick with a clear gloss for extra shine. The best thing about the nude lip look is it suits everyone!

These ideas are just great for the young ones but what about those of us who are over 50 some of these ideas would be just a little over the top , we like to look GREAT to but some constructive advice might be good so we don't look like mutton dressed up as lamb .
