The pint-sized pop star apologises after a bizarre video of her licking a doughnut and saying “I hate America” went viral.
A weird video surfaced online earlier this week where Ariana Grande is heard saying "America is disgusting - I hate America" at a doughnut shop when an innocent shop member offered her free samples. Ariana and her new boyfriend also decided to play truth or dare with the sweet goods on display - daring each other to lick powdered jelly donuts on the counter.
Releasing a statement, the star stresses that she is "EXTREMELY proud to be an American" and her remarks were due to her anger towards America's high obesity rates, leading her to curse the doughnuts.
"As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me, and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole," says Grande. She later says, "That being said, let me once again apologise if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words."
