Lifestyle’s golden boy from the Gold Coast has been nominated for a TV WEEK Gold Logie Award.
It’s official: Australia loves Mr Andrew Winter just as much as we do. The Selling Houses Australia and Love It or List It Australia host has been nominated for the TV WEEK Gold Logie Award – the first Foxtel personality to secure the honour in the award show’s 60-year history. Not only that, but he’s also vying for the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter with Selling Houses Australia also up for The Most Popular Lifestyle Program.
And it’s news that couldn’t come at a better time for Andrew. The nominations were announced at a star-studded event in the Gold Coast where one important person was missing, Andrew himself.
The double nominee was at home recuperating from an episode of Bell's palsy, a temporary paralysis of one side of the face. It's seen him take a little time off from filming the upcoming second season of Love it Or List It. But Andrew is quick to assure fans he’s not only on the mend but promises the lure of TV WEEK Logies Gold will see him recover even faster and back at work making more of the shows you love.
"The first week was pretty horrible but since then I'm absolutely fine. I'm into my third week now and there's a lot of improvement - there's really nothing wrong with me apart from the fact I've got a wonky face," he says.
"I'm absolutely shocked and stunned to be nominated. The lovely Australian phrase 'stunned mullet' comes to mind. Although obviously half a stunned mullet - one side of me is really shocked and delighted and the other side is not."
Equally delighted no doubt will be his Selling Houses Australia co-stars Shaynna Blaze and Charlie Albone as well as his Love It Or List It cohort Neale Whitaker.
With the news only just out of the bag, Andrew is yet to talk to them. However, he jokes that jealousy may rear its head at his good fortune.
"Shaynna will be delighted, she'll be lovely, Charlie, of course, will be bitter and angry, Neale will be politely delighted and then go and throw darts at my head," Andrew laughs.
"All fair in love and war! No really, it's a huge coup for Foxtel and for everyone who works on both shows. I work with the same production and crew for both Selling Houses Australia and Love It Or List It Australia. Continually work with the same people. And we all know that it's a massive machine and everybody has to be there - we can't do it without the family, we can't do it without the writers, the runners, the hosts, the whole crew. So when you get something as big as a Gold Logie I know that this will really please the people I work with. When a show gets that much of a kick you affect everybody involved in a positive way."
The 60th Annual TV WEEK Logie Awards will take place on Sunday, July 1 with voting once again opening on Monday, June 25. We'll keep you posted on how you can support Andrew, Selling Houses Australia and all your other favourite Foxtel shows and personalities who have received nominations for the prestigious event.
