Adele is the biggest artist in the world right now - but that doesn't stop her from being a down-to-earth mum.
In the latest issue of TIME Magazine, Adele reveals what it's like to a mother with a record-breaking album, and an international tour schedule.
"The other day I was saying, ‘Oh God, I’m finding this really hard again with a kid. I have no time for myself because in between doing this, all my spare time is with him. But then I realized, he’s been keeping me totally cool and calm about the whole thing,” she told TIME.
Adele admits her three-year-old son, Angelo, has inspired a new source of self confidence.
"He makes me so proud of myself, and he makes me like myself so much," she said. "And I’ve always liked myself. I’ve never not liked myself. I don’t have hangups like that. But I’m so proud of myself that I made him in my belly. Cooked him in my belly and then he came out of me! This human who’s suddenly walking around and doing his own thing."
She confessed her excitement to see her little boy grow into an adult:
"I can’t wait to know who his best friends are going to be, who his girlfriend or his boyfriend is going to be or what movies he likes… Whatever my kid wants to do or be I will always support him no matter what."
Go behind the scenes on TIME's exclusive portrait shoot with British singer Adele. Her recent comeback to the music industry, after a four-year absence, has put her at the top of the charts, selling more than five million copies of her smash hit record, "25." ????????? TIME's Erik Madigan Heck (@erikmadiganheck) speaks to TIME about his aim to show Adele in a simple and colorful light. "She is like an old world beauty, so I just wanted to show her natural elegance," he says. "I was extremely nervous leading up to the shoot, as she’s inarguably the biggest pop-star in the world. I tried to tell myself it was just like shooting one of my friends in high school." ????????? Photograph taken in New York on Nov. 19, 2015. Read our interview on TIME.com. #adele #adelehello
Not only is Adele an incredible young talent, she also seems like a loving and kind person.
While she is aware of her ever-rising star, staying grounded remains extremely important to her. Her strong, down-to-earth values inform many of her decisions - especially when it comes to parenting.
"I’m very self-conscious that I have a kid, and I don’t want him being one of those dickheads, who grows up being, like, ‘Driver, driver!', 'I have no clean clothes!' Well, have you washed them? I really don’t want him growing up like that. I’m very conscious of it.”
When it comes to her work, Adele has many aspirations for the future, and lists a duet with Beyonce among her goals.
Her TIME cover is titled 'The Year Ahead' - and it's sure to be a big one for Adele.
