It is a sad day for sitcom fans mourning the tragic loss of Doris Roberts.
The 90-year-old actress reached a new generation of audiences as the quick-witted, meddling mother-in-law, Marie Barone, in Everybody Loves Raymond.
Doris won five Emmy Awards over the course of her career, four of which were for her role as the Everybody Loves Raymond matriarch.
She also appeared in classic films such as National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Grandma's Boy.
Her co-stars and fans have swarmed to social media to express their grief.
