AAMI Golden Slipper Fashion 2010

Saturday 2nd April, 2010, saw Sydney’s fashionistas frock up in their best racing ensemble and head to Rosehill Gardens for some AAMI Golden Slipper trackside action.

The choices were fairly conservative this year with most opting for modest 1950s inspired dresses, hats and heels, but shoe queen Terry Biviano showed us that this autumn/winter is going to be all about shoulders and the bigger the better!

Jennifer Hawkins looked stunning in a Nicola Finetti dress while Myer ambassador Rebecca Twigley went for an Aurelio Costarella skirt and top and a Richard Nylon hat.

LifeStyle YOU’s Kate Waterhouse looked amazing in a black velvet dress and statement head piece.

So what look will get you noticed by the Fashions on the Field judges this autumn racing season?

There’s a return to more sophisticated glamour with vintage style millinery including small felt or wool based hats, cute cloches, pillboxes and berets. Gloves, stockings, pencil skirts, clutches, belts, brooches and jackets with great tailoring will also be big this season.

The main thing to remember when it comes to racing fashion is to be appropriate. Opt for a more demure look than your Saturday night sequins and embrace your feminine side!

Vintage will work fabulously on the track this autumn so suss out where to get the best buys with our fool-proof vintage fashion guide.
