9 Secrets to Gorgeous Summer Hair

Breathe a sigh of relief as it's all about low-maintenance beauty this summer! Follow our simple tips to ensuring great summer hair, so you can go effortlessly from boardroom to bar.

At such a busy time of year, the last thing you want to do is labour under a blow-dryer, trying to create the perfect do. By enlisting in the right tools, you'll be saving time so you can spend more outside enjoying those cocktails.

1. Invest in Argan Oil

If you're going to buy just one product this summer, then make it Argan Oil. This African nut-derived oil moisturises hair and fights dryness. The great thing about this oil is that you only need a tiny amount to gain maximum results. Either apply to the ends of damp hair, or coat from root to tip and wrap in a warm towel and sit back for an hour, if you're after something more intensive. Try De Lorenzo Defence Argan Finishing Oil.

2. Choose the right shampoo

Getting the most out of your colour, can be as simple as investing in the right shampoo. To prevent blonde highlights from turning brassy, choose a purple-hued toning shampoo such as Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo.

3. Go curly

Turn to curls this summer as the extra humidity will work in your favour. By adding extra bouncy volume, any kinks can be camouflaged that would usually be obvious with a sleek straight do. To ensure curls hold their shape, apply a lightweight hydrating cream such as Tresemme Smoothing Creme to damp hair, allow to dry naturally, and then twirl around a curling wand to finish off the look.

4. Keep it 'beachy'

The tousled look that's regularly rocked by the likes of Blake Lively and Jennifer Aniston, is easier to get than you think! Start by spritzing alternating sections of damp hair with a sea salt spray such as label.m Sea Salt Spray, scrunch hair in the palms of your hands, allow to dry naturally, and finish with a dry finish styler such as Frizz-Ease Perfect Finish Polishing Serum. A curling iron will help to get the right shape, but be sure to shake out (don't brush) to create a natural, effortless look.

5. Instant chic

For the office, nothing comes easier than a bun at the nape of the neck. Smooth a hair gloss such as TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Classic Shine Gloss Serum through damp hair, and comb back into a low-slung bun. This look can easily be taken to the bar by adding a great pair of drop or hoop earrings or a bold punchy lipstick.

6. Hair jewellery

Jewellery doesn't just have to be for the skin and body.  Jewelled bobby pins are an easy way to add a glam factor to your overall look. Try a few star shaped pins close to a twisty bun, or allow your bobby pins to stand out as a statement

7. Quit the blow-dryer

Put down the heat tools! It's time to embrace wavy, curly, tousled hair. It will not only save time, but allow your strands to recover from all the heat treatment you've probably been putting your hair through in the cooler months.

8. Repair masks

With the harsh rays and outdoor exposure in summer, it's easy for your hair to become dry and limp. Replace shampoo once a week with a hair mask such as Wella System Professional Repair Mask to add deep conditioning to your strands. Rinse hair with water, apply a small amount for a few minutes, rinse again, and then allow hair to air-dry.

9. Load up on zinc

When it comes to beauty, don't skimp on proper nutrition. Ensure hair remains glossy and healthy by eating a diet rich in zinc. Think quinoa, buckwheat and black beans.
