5 Ways to Steal Your Favourite Celebrity's Style

Whether you choose one element or add them altogether, these five wardrobe staples are proving to be the off-duty essentials for celebrities. Here's how to recreate the street style of the stars, writes Emma Bangay.

The celebrities are pretty much guaranteed to be on top of the latest trends in fashion. And the good news is that you can easily steal their style with these five wardrobe staples.

1. The denim jean

Where would we be without denim? Whether worn out and faded, slim-line and ink dark, black, white, flared or cropped, denim jeans are the starting point of the modern woman's wardrobe. Anything and everything can be worked around denim jeans, and they can prove flattering for all shapes and sizes too – which is unique in itself! Dress a super-loose pair down for day with trainers or sandals and a white t-shirt, or amp up the look for evening with a pair of stilettos or ankle boots and a crisp blazer.

2. The trainers

For women on the go, the only way to travel is in trainers. No longer reserved for only super casual days, trainers and high-tops are proving the perfect trans-seasonal shoe for everyday chic and evening style. You can keep it classic and chic with a French-inspired, crisp white converse trainer, or go a little high-tech with some bright neon Nikes or bold, elevated black high-tops. Whatever you do, show the shoe off and keep the rest of the outfit low-key.

3. The scarf

A heart-starter for any ho-hum outfit, the loose, thick scarf adds an element of style and individuality to everything. And now with winter upon us, dense woolen mixes are the best option. Don’t be too neat with your scarf, as the appeal of this accessory is its ‘throw-and-go’ ease. So invest in a long, thick scarf – either in a winter wool or a chic cotton or linen option – and literally wind it around your neck once – and knot loosely if needed - and you’re done. The more laid back, the better.

4. The collarless coat

The coat is a lifesaver this season. But forget detailed double-breasted versions with a billion buttons, in 2015, the collarless coat  - in fresh shades of pink, mint, blue, apricot and vanilla through to rich tones of navy and khaki - is super hot property. Celebrities across the globe are throwing them over dresses and heels or casual pants and ballet flats. For a sleeker silhouette, cinch in the waist with a thin or thick buckled belt, ensuring that the bulk of the coat is at the back, and the waist is in full focus.

5. The nautical nuance

Never out of fashion, nautical stripes can be worn with anything and everything. Delivering an effortless European accent, this favourite is a hot essential in t-shirts, pants and even dresses. For a truly modern lilt, you can buck the blue trend and go for a red or pastel stripe to mix it up. But remember to keep the rest of your outfit minimal - working it back with primary colours - and  go for a bright red lip to really add some classic punch.
