5 Ways To Refresh Your Look Right Now

We love refreshing our wardrobe. And shoe collection. And don't even get me started on how awesome it feels to update that underwear drawer (bye-bye granny undies!). So why not push the refresh button on your beauty regimen too? These simple tips give maximum returns for minimum input. Gotta love that.

1. Make dry shampoo your friend.

If this year is already pulling at your purse strings, here's a word of advice: Invest in a dry shampoo. This powder spray will save you stacks in salon bills as it extends the life of your blow-dry, instantly makes dirty hair look freshly washed (and your roots conveniently less re-growthy) and adds volume around the crown. It's the ultimate hair multi-tasker.

2. Set your lipstick with ice.

Love a bright lipstick? Push the refresh button on this classic beauty look by making it last 5,000 times longer with a little friend from the freezer: ice. Yep, apply your shade of choice as usual and then rub the ice cube over your lips to allow the lipstick to set.

3. Invest in serious skin care.

Oh, the joys of ageing: more confidence, more money, more wrinkles. Oh wait … unless, of course, you refresh your skin care regimen by amping up your ageing artillery. Products containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are an ideal way to improve skin tone and make your complexion look brighter and more youthful overall. Get onto it, stat!

4. Reinvent the smoky eye.

In recent years, we've seen the smoky eye change costumes more than Lady Gaga. From metallic bronze shades to super-black and intense, this look is the Kylie of makeup -- constantly reinventing itself. Now, it's time to do it again by adding a little navy blue to the mix. Yep, switch your blacks and browns for rich sapphire shades and pair it with contoured cheeks, flawless skin and a nude lip.

5. Oil up your spray tan.

Body oils are fast becoming the hydration product of choice for many beauty editors because of their ability to instantly soak in and leave your skin nourished for hours. Switch from heavy body lotions to oils in the hotter months for that light, silky feeling -- as a bonus, you'll extend the life of your spray tan by up to a week!
