4 Spring Beauty Essentials

It's the season of fun brights, fresh floral blooms and new beginnings, so shake up your beauty routine and welcome the return of the sun!

You don't have to worry about fierce winds whipping your hair or rain smudging your mascara, so spring clean your make-up bag and pick up these four beauty essentials.

1. SPF moisturisers

Here comes the sun! Even if it's not shining as brightly as it does in summer, UV rays can still harm your skin when it's overcast.

Look for protective SPF moisturisers, making special note of creams with an SPF 30 rating, which are generally quite easy to find in supermarkets or beauty stores. Add a healthy glow by keeping an eye out for tinted SPF moisturisers.

2. Spring fragrance

It's all about fresh grapefruit scents, heavy floral bouquets and sweet berries when it comes to spring fragrances, so start shopping for your new season perfume.

Heavy musk, spice or woody smells are best kept to winter, so put them away for spring.

Light scents are best, with an eau de toilette sure to do the trick. Top spring scents are cherry, gardenia, apricot, lychee, freesia, rose and mandarin.

3. Pink lippy

Scarlet red lips, vampy purples and 'morange' (a dark tangerine shade) were the top lippy colours for winter, but take it back to the basics this spring opting for neutral, pink shades.

Candy floss, light rose and nude-looking lipsticks are the way to go, with spring beauty all about simplicity.

4. Skin scrub

Refresh and revitalise your skin with a new skin scrub, enriched with exfoliants such as oatmeal, papaya and lemon.

You don't necessarily have to head out and buy a new product, you can whip up your own! Use household items often found in kitchens, such as baking soda, coffee, sugar and oatmeal to refresh your skin.
