Coles sell $79 'life-changing' product that helps fix insomnia & anxiety

Coles have started their price war with ALDI selling a massive bargain that fans are calling a "life changing" product.

The supermarket giant has launched its own Best Buys to rival ALDI's Special Buys and it will continue to offer fortnightly homeware bargains and deals just like ALDI.

This Friday, Coles will release a $79 weighted blanket, which is said to reduce anxiety and help you fall asleep faster, with its extra density said to act like a “hug” and help with relaxation.

"These blankets are amazing," said one shopper on a Coles Facebook group. "I suffer from insomnia and to say a blanket totally transformed my sleeping patterns sounds crazy but it is legit. It's a life changer."

Weighted blankets usually cost around $200 but Coles are selling this 6.5kg version for under $80.

Other bargains available in the Coles Best Buys winter warming offer include a $19.99 faux fur throw and a machine washable wool blend queen size doona selling for just $54.99.

Coles launched its round of Best Buys specials earlier in June across just 28 stores in South Australia and Victoria.

Now the Best Buys are being sold in 58 stores including those NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. More are expected to join this week.

In a statement, Coles general manager for health and home Jonathan Torr said the first round of Best Buys, Dutch ovens and cookware, had sold out within just a few days.

“Our first event has proven very popular with customers, who have told us the cookware and homewares we were offering were fantastic quality and great value for money, and they’re really enjoying the suspense of what might arrive at our next fortnightly event,” he said.

There's no word yet from Woolworths but they are expected to join the sale frenzy soon with their own bargain homewares sales.

How Does A Weighted Blanket Help You Sleep?

Weighted blankets provide a gentle pressure on your body that re-creates the feeling of being held ( this is known as Deep Touch Pressure). This type of pressure (a bit like a cuddle) has been shown to increase serotonin, a neurotransmitter that can calm you and help you sleep. Doctors think this is why a weighted blanket can help you sleep, despite there being no proven medical reason.

A weighted blanket might also help:

  • Relieve pain
  • Lessen anxiety
  • Improve mood
