Bold, wild and bright are the new trends for Christmas trees, 2019

With December fast approaching, everyone has Christmas on their minds. It's the time that you start your gift shopping, and maybe even start picking out your tree and decorating for the festive season.

While you can't go wrong with a traditional green Spruce - real or plastic - this year, people are completely reimagining what a Christmas tree can be.

One of the new trends taking over Instagram is the upside down Christmas tree

Actually not very new, it orginially stems from a Medieval European tradition of hanging the tree upside down to reflect the Holy Trinity, but modern tree-hangers are finding it be both a design piece and a space-saver.

By having the narrowest part of the tree at the base, it is far more difficult for small children or pets to pull it or knock it over. It is also perfect for people that want the drama of a large tree, but have narrow living areas, as the upside down tree acts more as a festive chandelier than a bulky piece of furniture.

Another Christmas tree trend is large, artifical trees in bright and fun colours. Shaking the traditional scheme of red and green, people are opting for a more vibrant palette.

Available in various colours, this vivid look allows you to embrace a traditional Christmas tree shape, while also being extremely bold and modern. People on Instagram are showing off their alternatively-coloured trees, finding shades that perfectly match their home decor.

For those that want a truly colourful Christmas, there is the rainbow tree. Taking the internet by storm, the multicoloured wonder is this year's "it" artifical tree. Available in various sizes, it is the perfect way to bring your Christmas decor into 2019.
