How to score the best deals at the 2018 Black Friday sales

One of the biggest shopping events of the year is back. Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a relatively new concept in Australia, but here at Lifestyle, we love any excuse for a sale!

Traditionally just for online shopping, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales have enjoyed a surge in popularity, with finder.com.au analysis estimating Australian shoppers will part with over $320 million this weekend.

Bessie Hassan, Money Expert at finder.com.au reveals her tips for scoring the best deals at the sales:

Do your research

"Start browsing now so you know roughly how much everything costs. When the sale starts, you’ll be able to see if you’re getting a good deal," says Bessie.

Sort your shipping

"Black Friday is a huge sale in the USA, so you might wind up on an overseas website only to discover they don’t ship to Australia," she says.

To avoid disappointment, make sure the site ships to Australia - and if they do, how much shipping will set you back.

Check the return policy

If you're not 100 per cent sure on the goods you're about to purchase, familiarise yourself with the return policy.

"Also double check if there are return shipping costs," Bessie offers. "These can be high if you’re buying from an overseas retailer."

Sign up to shop

"Brands will notify their customers of the sale first," says Bessie. So, if there's a brand you love, be sure to open those emails!
