Prince Philip is still devastated by grandson Harry's decision to walk away from his family, and son Andrew's alleged role in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, his biographer claims.
The 99-year-old duke is the subject of a new book by esteemed royal expert Ingrid Seward, which tells the story of his early life and his incredible seven decades as a senior member of the royal family.
The book, which is called, Prince Philip Revealed comes after a tumultuous year for the royal family.
Aside from Philip and his wife, the Queen, spending most of the year in isolation due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the family have also faced unprecedented change.
In January, Harry and wife Meghan Markle announced that they would be stepping back as senior royals and moving away from the UK to raise their son, Archie.
And Philip felt this was an outrage and a "dereliction of duty".
The book says, ""As far as Philip was concerned, Harry and Meghan had everything going for them.
"A beautiful home, a healthy son, and a unique opportunity to make a global impact with their charity work."
The couple have just announced they have signed a huge deal with Netflix worth millions of dollars.
The couple have said they want to use the platform to create "content that informs but also gives hope".
Philip was also shocked to the core over the allegations of Prince Andrew and his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
On the allegations, the book states, "Andrew allowed himself to be seduced by the rich and powerful whose only interest was his royal connection and the doors it could open.
"For Philip and the Queen, their son’s failure of judgment was a tragedy.
"Not only had he besmirched the reputation of the monarchy but had become involved in something extremely distasteful and far more serious."
When allegations of Prince Andrew's associations with Epstein and various girls came to light, he made the announcement that he would be stepping back from his royal duties.
Andrew has denied any wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein's crimes.
