Baby Sussex’s first photos and name reveal

After waiting for what felt like forever, we finally have the first glimpse of Baby Sussex.

Following Prince Harry's heart-warming announcement of the birth of Baby Sussex a couple of days ago, the world eagerly awaited the first precious moment that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would show off their newborn – and reveal his name.

Thankfully, the new parents didn't make us wait too long. In a very intimate photo call at Windsor Castle. The beaming pair tenderly cradled the newest addition to the royal family and posed proudly.

"I have the two best guys in the world, so I'm really happy," Meghan said while smiling at her new baby boy and Prince Harry. "He's got the sweetest temperament, he's so calm."

Prince Harry added, “His looks are changing every single day, so who knows," when asked about who the baby boy looks most like. "Parenting is amazing... we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy," he beamed.

But, Prince Harry did want to point out one important feature: “He’s already got a bit of facial hair as well, wonderful!” he joked.

Following these first photos, the couple revealed that the new royal baby would be meeting more of the family including Her Majesty The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh. "It will be a nice moment to introduce the baby to more family and my mother is with us as well," Meghan said.

The big name reveal

While the couple didn’t reveal the much-anticipated name at the photo call, they did so just hours after.

Once Baby Sussex had met his royal grandparents, his name was announced: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. This name took the world by surprise as it wasn’t on the shortlist of expected names, which included: Alexander, James, Arthur, Albert or Spencer. The inspiration behind Archie’s name has not yet been revealed.

Archie was not bestowed with a royal title by the Queen, thought to be at the request of Prince Harry and Meghan. So, instead of being a prince or royal highness, he will be formally known as Master Archie.

Archie is seventh in line to the throne and is the Queen’s eighth great-grandchild.

Prince Harry first shared the excitement of his newborn son in a press conference two days ago where he detailed how amazing it was to be by Meghan's side during the birth and how he was "over the moon" at being a dad.
