There has been talk of a rift between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle for months, but now Kensington Palace has stepped in.
Kensigton Palace has released a statement following claims that Kate was left feeling ‘exhausted and trapped' thanks to her post-Megxit workload.
The claims were made in a recent story printed in Tatler magazine which stated that Kate was ‘fuming’ after being slumped with the extra work left behind by Meghan and Prince Harry, who departed the royal family in March.
“William and Catherine really wanted to be hands-on parents and the Sussexes have effectively thrown their three children under a bus,” the magazine reported.
The sources went on to say: “Kate is furious about the larger workload. Of course she's smiling and dressing appropriately but she doesn't want this.
“She's working as hard as a top CEO, who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays.”
Kensington Palace have since denied that claims and responded to the article on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who said they felt compelled to address the article.
“This story contains a swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations which were not put to Kensington Palace prior to publication,” the palace said.
The article in question also claims that Kate and Meghan had a disagreement before Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding over the bridesmaids wearing tights. Kate allegedly wanting to follow protocol, while Meghan disagreed.
A Tatler spokesperson has since said the palace was aware of the article for some time.
“Tatler's Editor-in-Chief Richard Dennen stands behind the reporting of Anna Pasternak and her sources,” the spokesperson said.
“Kensington Palace knew we were running the "Catherine the Great" cover months ago and we asked them to work together on it. The fact they are denying they ever knew is categorically false.”
Kate and William are currently isolating at their home in Norfolk, with Kate recently saying they are coping as well as everybody else in these difficult times.
