Prawn Saganaki

On this episode of Come Dine With Me Australia, Ellen Crepaz prepares her much-loved Prawn Saganaki


  • 2 table spoons of Olive oil

  • 1 Brown onion, halved, thinly sliced

  • 3 garlic cloves crunched

  • 3 tbsp. tomato paste

  • (1/2 cup) Red wine

  • 400g can chopped tomatoes

  • 500g green prawns, peeled leaving tails intact

  • 1 table spoon of dried oregano

  • 100g Greek feta, crumbled

  • 3 tbsp. chopped fresh continental parsley

  • Crusty bread, to serve


  • 1.

    Heat a frying pan over medium heat put olive oil Cook onion, stirring, for 3 minutes or until soft.

  • 2.

    Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the tomato paste and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the wine and simmer for 2 minutes or until reduced by half. Add the tomato and simmer for 10 minutes or until the mixture is thick.

  • 3.

    Add prawns and stir through leaving to simmer for 20 minutes stirring every now and again

  • 4.

    Serve on to a plate sprinkle with Parsley and feta

  • 5.

    Serve with bread

Where is the Saganaki in this recipe? I love the cheese that my Greek partner and his parents have introduced me to. This only has Fetta and should not be called Saganaki, we complain about this everywhere. If I wanted Fetta....
