This easy recipe is great as it can be prepared in advance and is great served with a coffee at the end of a dinner party.

  • 225g good-quality dark chocolate, broken into small pieces

  • 175ml double cream

  • Icing sugar, to dust

  • Cocoa powder, sifted, to roll

  • 1.

Make a simple chocolate ganache by melting the chocolate in hot cream. Bring the cream just to the boil and pour it over the chocolate pieces. Mix until chocolate has melted. Set aside at room temperature, covered, and allow to cool completely and set (approximately1 to1 1/2 hours). Use a teaspoon to spoon out bite-sized pieces. Dust your hands with a little icing sugar to prevent them sticking and roll mixture into balls in the palm of your hands. Roll in the sifted cocoa.

Optional - You can add Frangelico for hazelnut flavour or add rum to make chocolate rum balls.
