Storage Hacks that will Change Your Life

Being organised feels great. However, getting there can be a long and bumpy road.

If you're starting your clean out from zero, it can be a daunting uphill climb. However, if you take it one room at a time, you will soon see your home - and your lifestyle - revolutionised

Maximise space and minimise clutter with these great storage solutions:

1. Hidden shoe cupboard

Of course, it pays to never throw out a shoe box. Whether you use it for your actual shoes, or prefer to keep it for holding bits and bobs, it's essentially a free storage container.

However, if you prefer a neater and more discreet way to store shoes, or you're dealing with kids (or adults) who like to leave their shoes wherever they're kicked off, try a shoe cabinet. These almost invisible cabinets from IKEA offer a discreet way to hide your shoes from view, and can fit in small, narrow spaces such as hallways.

2. This single sock storage solution

Ok, this isn't so much storage, but it is so cool we had to include it in here. We may even argue it could be the most vital piece in your home! Clutter often starts small - say, for instance, that single sock that can't find its mate. These things get left around, without a designated home, and eventually get forgotten about.  This masterpiece can help solve one of the greatest household mysteries.

3. Bed/storage unit

De-clutter your bedroom with some extra storage under your bed. Like a mattress, a good bed frame is worth the investment - especially if it doubles as a storage unit!

4. Above-the-door shelf

This hack is great for maximising space. You can purchase these miscellaneous shelves from Bunnings and situate them in necessary places around your home.

5. This secret tub that makes you look so smart

Most of us have bits and bobs that end up on our bookshelves. This little hidden box makes a great home for things like remote controls, keys, even receipts or other small items. Added bonus: fooling people into thinking you've read the classics.

The more sophisticated solution is to fill your selves with stylish tubs and boxes.

6. The "Clever Closet"

Very clever indeed! It's flexible and easy to install, and can help you with extra storage in your bathroom, bedroom, laundry or pantry.

The 'Clever Closet is available from Bunnings.

7. Organise your accessories

You don't need to buy fancy new products to get your stuff sorted. For example, who needs a jewellery box when you have an ice cube tray? Get creative with unused items in your home.

8. No laundry storage? No worries!

Place some peg board on your walls to hang shelves, baskets, as well as brooms and cleaning supplies.
