EXCITING NEWS: Second and third season announced for The LifeStyle Channel’s new local production.
Foxtel has announced the commissioning of a second and third season of the hit new local production, River Cottage Australia, to air exclusively on The LifeStyle Channel, only on Foxtel.
In the first international franchise of the hugely successful series, River Cottage Australia saw Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall travel to Australia for the first time to take his experiment in downshifting and the message of sustainability down under and hand the baton to his Australian counterpart – former Tasmanian chef, Paul West.
The program was met with rave reviews and consistently ranked as the number one non-sports program across the STV platform. The series also delivered the second largest consolidated audience for The LifeStyle Channel year-to-date.
General Manager of The LifeStyle Channels and Foxtel’s Head of Production, Duane Hatherly, said: “River Cottage Australia has been more than just a programme for so many of us involved in its development and production to date. From finding incredible talent in Paul West to turning the land and settling in at the property at Tilba – the stars have truly aligned.
“I believe that we have created something very special and it is deeply gratifying to know that it resonated strongly with Australians too.
“I am absolutely thrilled that we are able to move forward with the commission of a further two series of River Cottage Australia. It's a great day for back-to-basics living and the community spirit!”
Host of River Cottage Australia, Paul West, said "After going on an incredible journey filming the first season, I am humbled to be able to continue my role for a second and third season. I feel like I have only just scratched the surface of the farm’s potential and met only a fraction of the passionate people whole share a similar path.
“I can’t wait to share the adventure, emotion and most importantly, the food, all over again.”
Managing Director of KEO Films – who co-produced the series with ITV Studios Australia – Debbie Manners, said: “It’s fantastic to see River Cottage translate so brilliantly to an international audience. ITV Studios Australia and Foxtel have been excellent to work with and we feel Australia has real potential and are keen to see what happens next.”
The series will be produced by KEO Australia and production will commence later this year in Central Tilba on the NSW far south coast. Season two will also see the return of Paul’s much-loved best mate, Digger, and will launch in 2014.
