Let Neale Whitaker shed some light on the new wall-decorating trend.
It's wallpaper, but not as you know it. You may have thoughts of feature walls, but Neale says that the trend of wallpaper has changed considerably!
Now, wallpaper is being used to transform spaces in ways we never thought possible. From introducing texture to adding colour, wallpaper is one simple way to style up your space.
Neale says that walls are one of the most important blank areas where you can show personality.
"Instead of the feature wall, we’re choosing wallpaper to decorate entire rooms or maybe two walls out of four," he says.
Where to start?
It all depends on what you want to achieve, but Joanne Hurt Broadfeather design project manager says there are a few good places to start.
"Sometimes there’s a piece of artwork or furniture that the client really wants you to work in with, other times they may have a favourite colour they really want you to use," she tells.
To give your room a real point of difference, Joanne suggests using a mix of bold patterned wallpaper and plain.
"Try using a bolder pattern on one or two walls and then match it with a simpler smaller-scale pattern on the other walls," she says. "You can use texture to make a statement."
