Take a closer look at the makeover of this home in Middle Ridge in regional Queensland.
In the town of Toowoomba, a place surrounded by beautiful bushland and rugged ranges, sits a special timber cabin. It is here, for over 30 years that three kids, Paul, Amanda and David Guard grew up with a backyard playground beyond most children’s imagination.
This backyard consists of 12 acres of bushland, rivers and camping sites. Three tree houses made with pride and love still stand strong years after they were built and years after the children have grown up and moved away.
The house, an A-frame cabin built by the Guards in their beloved Swedish style, sits proudly atop a hill where it overlooks the surrounding valley. Over time, the kids grew up and moved out; the carpet aged and faded; spaces were unutilised and views become closed off due to the ever-growing bush land.
Shockingly in 2014, Paul, Amanda and David’s parents were tragically killed in the MH17 Malaysian Airlines tragedy. What an emotional struggle it must have been to decide to sell their family home of 30 years.
With gentle hands and genuine respect, it was time to help start a new chapter for the Guard family by updating this precious property and moving it into a new family’s hands for more stories to be written and new adventures to be had.
