Medieval castle house makeover, Ravenshoe, Qld: Before and After

Take a look at the amazing renovation of this unique castle home in Far North Queensland.

Located high on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland, lies the sleepy village of Ravenshoe. With its wide streets and classical veranda-wrapped pubs, Ravenshoe is the kind of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it town synonymous with this part of the country. Yet just 15 minutes from town stands something out of the ordinary - Vine Castle.

Built in 1980, this cinder block nod to medieval times has been home to Dina and her two children for the past 11 years. Vine Castle is a mix of middle ages and wishful thinking – this castle is firmly stuck in the 1980s rather than the 1480s. From its slate flooring and colour choices to its gimmicky dining area, Vine Castle is definitely unique.

To add to the problem, the property is surrounded by shrubs and bushes, which hide the unique castle and give it an abandoned look.

With the tragic passing of Dina’s husband, and her two kids having grown up, Dina relocated to the Sunshine Coast and has been trying to sell Vine Castle ever since. For almost 2 years the property has been on the market, but Dina can’t find a buyer who shares her passion for this faded folly.

I love the make over. If I had the money, I'd buy it without hesitation. Absolutely beautiful.

I liked the property the way it was before the make over. Yes the garden needed a good clean up but inside should have been left alone as it had a uniqueness to it. Shaynna and Andrew shame on you for getting rid of the medieval look to it. Shaynna your paint colour looks are horrid and getting rid of the windows was wrong. Charlie you did a magnificent job on the garden.
