Take a closer look at the makeover of the Haberfield house in New South Wales performed by the Selling Houses team.
The 7 Chols moved to Australia from Mauritius in the late 60’s, with their parents and Grand parents. Their father ran a successful sugar estate in Mauritius and the family led an exclusive lifestyle.
When their parents died, the 7 Chol siblings inherited the family home. They decided to sell and split the proceeds, but had trouble agreeing on a price and how to present the old house. As a result, the property is still in original condition, with old carpets, 70's furniture and a dreadful bathroom.
The property has been on the market for about a year – not that anyone would know…! They listed privately with 2 agents, had little or no advertising, no signboards and no online listing! The family say they have received confusing messages from agents, who advised them not renovate or change the house. But did those agents really mean for them to leave the house totally preserved – including the old broken furniture, worn tired carpet and shabby curtains?
A classic case of a family sabotaging their own sale by not being able to agree on anything!
