Peter Maddison takes us behind the scenes on Grand Designs Australia.
Grand Designs Australia season eight dishes up some of the most extreme builds ever featured on the series. Here, host Peter Maddison takes us through some extra insights from this week’s episode: Tony and Tania in Lockleys, South Australia.
"Basing one of the biggest investments of your life on a loose handshake isn't usually what happens, but Tony quietly had faith that everything would be okay in the long run.
"A big lesson here is that every project no matter how big or small needs detailed cost planning. This should always happen at the design stage so you have a guide of how much you are going to need to spend."
"The impressive thing about Tony and Tania was that they hung onto their original design intent all the way through.
"The design itself is very bold and strong. I love the idea of the facade being the pattern of the tree branches behind it, throwing light over the ground. Throughout all the ups and downs, they held onto this feature because they liked the idea of it and really tried to make the building sing."
