Our special guest editor Andrew Winter reveals his top expert tips, the secrets behind the show and the truth behind the chemistry he has with his co-hosts, Charlie Albone and Shaynna Blaze.
It still never ceases to amaze me that even after 11 seasons of Selling Houses Australia, we will turn up to the homes of people who say they've seen the show loads of times. And of course, they know what we are going to do. And still, they manage to become the people on TV they swore they never would. You always like the challenging owners, they are always great.
I've had quite a few highlights this season. The first would be two properties - Black Hill, SA and Campwin Beach, QLD - which were both what I would have considered as almost unsellable. Yet each miraculously quickly sold in really weak markets, against all the odds.
And my other highlight was the episode Charlie wasn't there, in Penrith, NSW, and I took over for him in the garden. Obviously, I found out how easy his job is, he basically just tells people what to do. He's become me - although without the good looks, charm and wit.
The rapport Charlie, Shaynna and I share certainly wasn't prepared when we started the show all those years ago. It's bizarre really because we are three very different people: I'm lovely and then there's Charlie and Shaynna. No, it's all good fun, we have particularly good times, especially when we are in the car. Actually, Charlie and I have a good time. Shaynna doesn't do so well - she gets particularly car sick.
I love it when people ask me specific questions. I still think that the most common misconception is that property is generic. So exclusively for Lifestyle, I have shared with you my expert advice on some recent questions I've been asked such as how to use your home as a holiday rental, what you should know about downsizing for retirement and the benefits of buying off the plan.
Until next episode, keep asking me those questions. And keep watching and enjoying the show. Because the reason I keep coming back year after year, sadly, is that I don't think I could do anything else. Going back and being a real estate agent? That's hard work really. So please keep the show going because this is it for me.
