Neale Whitaker is a familiar face in our lounge rooms, but there's much more to him than his clever knack for putting together a stylish room.
From watching Neale on Love It or List It Australia, to reading up on some of his handy hints and tricks to get your home up to scratch, we find out a few tidbits about the 'Team Love It' man himself.
Whether it's getting lost in a good flea market, or having a relaxing weekend, Neale tells Lifestyle a few things his fans may not know.
While Neale has enjoyed a successful career in publishing and is full-steam ahead with hosting duties, he does have one other career area he'd like to tick off.
"One of these days, when I have time, I'd love to take on private clients. Of all the areas I've worked in, I love interior design most, he says.
"There's a real synergy between the choices that we make in terms of the clothes we wear, the places we travel to, the food we like to eat. To me none of those things are ever in isolation, there's always a thread that runs through them and that's always fascinated me."
Neale reveals that he leans toward an eclectic mix of styles.
"I lean more toward contemporary, but I don't like 100 per cent of anything, I like a mix. I would not be able to live comfortably in an environment that was 100 per cent modern or classic or antique, for example. Instead, I like to mix traditional and contemporary pieces," he tells.
While Neale admits that he's not a big fan of colour, he does have a soft spot for one hue.
"There are a few saturated colours such as orange, that I've always loved, but on the whole I veer toward neutrals," he says. "I'm a big fan of a neutral palette with accents of colour."
When Neale has a rare moment to himself, he likes to keep things simple.
"I just like hanging out with my partner, David, and my two dogs who I don't get to see enough of," he tells. "I'm not a big one for hobbies and interests, I just like chilling out. My favourite weekend in the whole world would be one where I had no plans whatsoever where you could just decide what you want to do on the spur of the moment."
Neale confesses that he loves a good flea market, and that he'll stop the car if he sees a garage sale.
"I'm a real fossicker and rummager - my partner not so much," he says. "There's always a thought that this could be the garage sale where you find the thing that you've wanted all your life. There's always the thrill that in amongst the junk you're going to find something absolutely amazing and when you do it's the best feeling in the world."
