Who knew your furry friend could be as much of music fan as you?!
Just like we have our favourite songs that make us feel good, our pets do too!
“Music can lift the mood of pets and also lower their anxiety," pet expert, emergency vet, author and educator Dr Alex Hymes explains.
Given this, leaving some tunes on could be quite beneficial for your pet.
"Not only will it provide comfort and companionship but it also helps to muffle other noises outside the house that may cause pets to be alarmed," he says.
According to data from Spotify's recent research project, Aussies believe their pets prefer soft rock and classical music, likely due to the calm and slower tempos which is more soothing for them.
So, how do you know what type of music your pet likes best?
“Pet Playlists is a new experience where Spotify users can get an algorithmically curated playlist based on their tastes and their pet’s character attributes," Alex tells. "The playlist are created based on the pet owner’s listening habits and their pet’s character attributes, and are a fun, bonding activity between you and your beloved pet.”
Spotify has set up an easy way to help you through the music maze:
Step 1: Pick your pet - choose from dog, cat, iguana, hamster, or bird.
Step 2: Tell us more about your pet - from relaxed to energetic, shy to friendly, and apathetic to curious. The traits you provide will help make the playlist more personalised for your pet.
Step 3: Add a name and a picture of them - the playlist will feature your pet's name and photo, and you’ll also receive a personalised sharecard.
Step 4: Listen and share - once complete, you’ll be able to access your pet’s playlist right away and can also upload the personalised sharecard to your favourite social sites.
