Lap of Luxury: Sydney’s Best Pet Friendly Hotel

Thinking of taking a luxury break, but can’t bear to leave your furbaby behind? Well now you don’t have to with one of Sydney’s most luxurious hotels upping its commitment to four legged friends.

Traditionally, the only Aussie holiday your dog was allowed on was a camping trip or maybe the odd Christmas break where you could fluke a pet friendly rental. The thought of a luxury city hotel wouldn’t have even crossed the mind. But things are slowly starting to change with hotels leaning more towards a European way of operating by allowing dogs to accompany their owners. Pier One on Sydney’s stunning harbour is leading the way, opening its doors to our four legged friends with a strong focus on pet friendly accommodation.

What to Expect

On arrival you and your pooch will be greeted by staff who will adore your pet and make you feel completely welcome. Your room will be fully decked out with plenty of dog friendly favourites too ensuring the utmost comfort during your stay and you don’t need to take a thing! Included are a large dog bed, water bowl and an all-important frisbee to play with at the park or down by the pier. There’s also an in-room puppy mini bar stocked by luxe brand Dogue for a little extra pampering.

The hotel concierge is more than happy to help with anything furbaby related and can organise puppy sitting, grooming or anything else you need. During the stay dogs are allowed everywhere in the hotel except for the main dining room, but there are plenty of tables in the lounge bar or out on the pier for dining together. Plus there’s also a bunch of beautiful parks nearby where you can take in the stunning Sydney Harbour views.

Getting There

If you are planning on travelling from interstate, all the major airlines have pet fares which are surprisingly cheap and easy to organise. You will have to check with the hire car, Uber or taxi service you plan to use from the airport though to see if they will accommodate your dog as unfortunately Sydney public transport is a little behind the hotels at this stage.
