How to Decorate Your Fish Tank

Wondering how to make your new aquarium look beautiful for your pet fish?

Regardless of its size, it is a good idea to keep your aquarium well decorated so that your fish have plenty to look at and explore.

Some fish tank decorations may be beneficial to the health of your fish and the water upkeep. The ornaments you choose are up to you, depending on whether you want them to be bright or subtle.

Here are some top tips for decorating your fish tank:

Don't overcrowd the fish: You should only put items in your tank if you are willing to look after them.

Hiding Places: Ceramic objects or natural rocks provide places for your fish to swim around as well as find refuge in. Hollow items give fish a place to go if they are startled or hiding. Ensure that all items are disinfected and properly cleaned before being introduced into the tank.

Plants: Including plants in your fish tank can help reduce algae growth and are sometimes useful as an extra source of food for your fish. Make sure your plant gets plenty of light and care to ensure their survival.

Pebbles: You should spread a generous amount of pebbles along the bottom of your tank. This will give your ornaments a place to sit, as well as keep your fish off the glass in case they go to the bottom of the tank.

Decorative Objects: Items that you think look pretty and are safe for your fish can brighten up your fish tank instantly! Once you've considered their size, weight and safety, you can choose whatever ornaments you like to keep your tank beautiful.
