The little island of Linga, between Scotland and Norway, could be what isolation dreams are made of!
If you're a total introvert, drawn to the idea of seclusion and beautiful landscape then perhaps it's time to give up city life and live your rolling hills fantasy.
Linga is 63.75-acre island in Vaila Sound, on the west side of Shetland, between Scotland and Norway - but closer to Norway.
The Shetland isle is currently listed for sale at £250,000 ($481,400 AUD approx). So, you can be a person who owns a private island for less than the average price of an Australian city home.
The stunning island is described as "a place of spectacular scenery and beauty with an abundance of wildlife". It is located in a scenic and sheltered position, accessible from Shetland mainland year-round.
That said, it is not move-in ready.
The only structures on the island are two ruined cottages, so you would need to be prepared to proceed with some serious construction in order to reside on the island.
There is planning permission granted for the rebuilding of the cottages, plus an additional cottage, a pier, a storage shed and some agricultural buildings. Additionally, there are plans for eco-friendly utilities, such as solar panels and rainwater capture.
After plans for a nudist colony fell through (yes, even in the very, very cold weather), the island is still looking for a new owner.
So, if you're looking to embrace the iso life, forget the city and head for Linga!
