People on social media are mocking Tom Hanks, who is currently in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, for the amount of Vegemite he spreads on his toast.
After testing postive for Coronavirus last week, Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, are currently in isolation in Australia. They have remained positive, creating a Spotify playlist called 'Quarentunes' and interacting on social media with fans.
Over the weekend, Tom tweeted a thank you to his Australian helpers along with some very well-slathered Vegemite toast and it did not go down well.
Thanks to the Helpers. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other. Hanx pic.twitter.com/09gCdvzGcO— Tom Hanks (@tomhanks) March 15, 2020
Known for its extreme salty flavour, Australians reprimanded the actor on his choice of Vegemite to butter ratio.
"okay you need to scrape around 60% of that vegemite off, otherwise it's gonna be nasty and hurt your mouth friend, " responded one critic
Another wrote: "Dear Tom, that’s lovely but you spread the vegemite way too thick! The secret to vegemite toast is 1/3 vegemite to 2/3 butter maximum! And add smashed avocado for extra awesomeness"
Some Australians even sent the Forrest Gump star graphics to illustrate the ideal shade of Vegemite toast.
Tom. What are you doing? No Australian puts that much vegemite on their toast. pic.twitter.com/bq6m6jY73R— Julie (@J0Marshll) March 15, 2020
It's unclear if Tom was just unaware of Vegemite's strength or if he just has a really tough palate, but he has plenty more time Down Under to eat Vegemite toast in bed - the traditional food of Aussie sick days!
