A toilet cleaning hack which was posted on Facebook has swept the country as more and more photos of the results are revealed.
First posted on the Mums Who Clean Facebook page, one fan revealed the simple way she gets rid of the very unattractive, brown stains on her toilet with a product from Bunnings.
The stains are caused by mineral deposits in the water and can build up over time. As a result they're really hard to clean with brushes and tradtional toilet cleaners.
But, according to the group, Scalex - a heavy duty home descaler - is a product that can perform miracles and get rid of the stains and it costs just $11.
You simply pour it into the toilet bowl, leave overnight, use a toilet brush to rub any stains that are left, flush and your toilet is clean!
One member of the group, Sam, admitted that she had tried many different ways to clean her toilet bowl but this was the only one to work.
"So I promised to report back on “operation toilet clean," she wrote. "As an experiment I tried most of the suggestions. Here’s the results. Coca-Cola- Zero result; dishwasher tab - zero, Polident - zero, citric acid - about 20%. ( mostly just lightened it” ) And then I used the Scalex - OMG - Brilliant! Here’s before & after.'
And Naomi, who also agreed that the hack was a winner ,gave some advice if the cleaning tip didn't work the first time.
"I will put a side note in," she said. "....If you had done it once and it didnt work keep trying. I had done the process 3 times (each time getting small amounts off) then I dissolved the solution in with boiling water and left it it in the toilet overnight. I scrubbed it this morning with a toilet brush. Soooo Happy"
Websites soon picked up on this phenomenon and the product hack has now gone viral across the country with many confessing how embarrassed they were about their dirty toilet.
"I have tried for years to fix this," said one. "Woo hoo!"
" I am really humiliated every time anyone comes round," said another. "Hopefully not now!"
