For the first time ever, the girls' name "Corona" has entered the top 100.
US pregnancy and baby site, The Bump, has shared its most searched names of 2020. This year, there was a surprising inclusion.
The girls' name "Corona" has proved to be popular, ranking above many well-established names to enter the 2020 list.
It seems parents have taken to possibly commemorating the pandemic by naming their child after the virus, as the unusual moniker is ranked at number 100 in the US.
Although, it is possible that curious parents are merely looking at the name with no intention of using it for their child.
It seems that the other stand-out trend was names inspired by astrology, with both Aurora and Nova listed in the top 10 most searched names for girls.
Interestingly, unconventional boys' names Zion and Braxton were included in the top 10, while the girls' and boys' lists featured Skyla and Reese, proving to be popular unisex choices.

US baby name site, Nameberry, released their data earlier in the year, revealing that Luna was their number one girls' name of 2020 so far, while Milo topped the list for boys.
A name that fell off from popularity was Cora, most likely due to its similarity to Corona. This is ironic considering the name Corona has gained steam in The Bump's calculations.
