The Aussie mums decorating Christmas trees for families who don’t have time

A jolly side-hustle? This pair of sisters make extra cash setting up other people's Christmas decorations.

Two Melbourne-based sisters, Veronika Gentile, 30, and Giovanna Avati, 40, charge $26 an hour to set up the Christmas trees of families who are too busy to do it themsleves.

They say that they were inspired by their mother, who always had a perfectly manicured and colour-coordinated Christmas tree. Like their mum, the two sisters were known for having perfectly curated trees and festive decor in their own homes.

Veronika and Giovanna's friends started asking them to help with their yuletide set-ups. “I started getting a lot of attention from friends, they loved my ornaments, and one of them even asked if I would set up their tree for them,” explained Veronika.

Stay at home mum, Veronika, uses her clients own ornaments and provided tree, but believes that avoiding tinsel leads to the best overall look.

Three Christmas trees

She thinks that placement is the key to a truly successful tree. “It's all about positioning. For my own tree, I place my ornament, stand back and figure out if it works in that space," she said. "I do the same thing for other people.”

It originally started as a hobby, but has taken off as a lucrative side-job, charging $26 per hour. They netted $500 before December even began!

So, if your Christmas decor earns you compliments, you may be sleeping on a potentially profitable side-hustle.
