Kristen has vowed to support her husband, as she feels he is "very, very worth it."
After 16 years of sobriety, actor, Dax Shepard, recently revealed that he has relapsed. Now, today on Ellen his wife, Frozen star, Kristen Bell is opening up on how he's doing.
"He is actually doing really great," the actress shares. "I mean look, you know, everybody's up against their own demons, sometimes it's anxiety and depression, sometimes it's substance abuse.
"The thing that I love most about Dax is A: That he was able to tell me, and tell us and say, 'We need a different plan,'" Bell continues.
"Like we have a plan. If he has to take medication for any reason, I have to administer it. But he was like: 'So we need a stronger plan, I was faltering and I have to do some sort of emotional work to figure out why I wanted to use again.'"
The Good Place star also explains that one of Dax's best traits is that he is "addicted to growth."
"He's addicted to evolving," she tells Ellen. "And he was like: 'I don't want to risk this family and I did. So let's put new things in place to make sure it doesn't happen again.'"
Kristen, who has two children, Delta and Lincoln, with Dax, reveals that the couple is back in therapy. She reassures that she will do whatever she can to make sure he is supported, as he is "very, very worth it".
Dax came clean about his recent relapse in a late-September episode of his successful podcast, Armchair Expert. He revealed that he had been abusing opioids, after getting a prescription for Vicodin for multiple injuries.
"For the last eight weeks maybe, I don't really know…I'm on them all day," Dax admitted.
The Parenthood actor explained how quickly his drug usage can spin out of control. "I'm allowed to be on them at some dosage because I have a prescription and then I'm also augmenting that. And then all the prescriptions run out and I'm now just taking 30 mil Oxys that I've bought whenever I decide I can do [it]."
