Woman discovers if you wash strawberries in salt water, tiny bugs crawl out. Yes, really.

Do you wash your strawberries before you eat them? Every time?

You might just want to from now on, thanks to some pretty alarming viral videos.

And why?

Well, the videos, shared thousands of times on social media, reveal that you should clean strawberries properly to get rid of all the dirt, worms and bugs that can live there.

Yes, bugs and worms.

It seems you can’t just rinse them under the tap any more because that doesn’t even come close to getting rid of the little critters that live there.

One video, by Krista Torres on Tik Tok, shows how you are meant to dissolve a couple of tablespoons of salt in a glass of water, then you wait for up to half an hour and apparently can see teeny tiny worm-like bugs crawling out of your strawberries.

Another post on Facebook suggests washing them in white vinegar, water and salt too.

After that you should rinse them thoroughly before eating to get rid of any salt or vinegar tastes!

That is, if you haven’t been put off strawberries for life!

Hundreds of commenters on social media were totally freaked out by the video which they claimed had ruined their day.

"What. Just. Happened?" said one. "I am never eating any fruit again."

"This is the grosset part of my day," said another.

"Dead," added a third!
