LifeStyle has caught up with the homeowner's who have broken records (and hearts) around the country.
Hotel Club Kaniva owners Jacquie and John were the homeowners Selling Houses Australia fans fell in love with.
The couple were hit with a few strokes of bad luck, but after Charlie, Shaynna and Andrew took the pub from a damaged residence to a stunning establishment – it appears good news is on the horizon for the Victorian-based couple.
That’s right – after appearing on Selling Houses Australia, the couple’s property has been the most viewed commercial property in the country.
Shaynna even took to social media to share the exciting achievement.
“After its appearance in episode 6 of @SellingHousesAus, it's exciting to report that Hotel Club Kaniva is now one of the most viewed commercial properties of 2020! Congratulations to everyone involved. Let's hope it brings Jacqui and John a sale very soon!”
Speaking to LifeStyle, homeowner Jacquie said: “The reaction has just been amazing – being on the show has just generated so much interest.
“There's still quite a few inquiries coming through. Most of the serious ones have signed the paperwork – in order to have a look at our bookwork.
"But at this stage our broker is just waiting for call-backs to see if anyone wants to come up and have a look.”
One problem at the front of their minds is that the coronavirus pandemic may draw out a potential sale even longer.
“It’s just hard because visiting the hotel isn’t exactly essential travel. But now that they've sort of lifted lockdown restrictions - our lovely premier has lifted the ban that we can travel a little bit, but not overnight,” she explains.
“So, for potential buyers in Melbourne, they'd have to leave really early in the morning to get to Kaniva and have a bit of a chat.
"And then they’d drive back to Melbourne in the same day. It's a big day. It could be a 15-hour day or so."
Speaking of COVID-19 lockdown laws, Jacquie and her husband have had to take a step back from their duties and only work a few hours at night – selling food and beverages via takeaway.
“Even if we were allowed ten people in the hotel, it’s almost not feasible to pay for staff.”
Despite the difficult situation, Jacquie said the couple have come across another silver lining.
Her husband John has been recognised while out and about, thanks to his appearance on the show.
“The funny thing is, John had to travel to Adelaide last week and he was pulled aside while filling up his car with fuel. These folks said, ‘Do I know you? Oh, I know where you were from - you are from that Selling Houses Show.’
“John was very thrilled with himself!” his proud wife quips.
And, to answer one final question that is on all our minds - are they ready to sell their beautiful property?
“We’re still very much ready to sell! We hope we find someone who will look after the place.”
We wish them all the luck and will report back once they do find an owner deserving of their beloved hotel.
