Restaurant owner makes amazing discovery on customer's receipt

This is one beautiful act of kindness!

Owners of a local cafe in the US have been left speechless after realising a generous customer left a hefty  tip.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, The North Carolina-based restaurant - known to locals as The Famous Toastery - was shut down, however it opened its doors back up to customers on Saturday, May 25.  

And in a rare turn of events, staff at the eatery were shocked to see two first-time customers left a bountiful gratuity of $US1000 ($AU1530) on their breakfast bill, which was originally valued at $43.31.

According to the waitress who spotted the sweet gesture, the couple's act kindness was only noticed once the happy customers had left  the premises.

Famous Toastery has since taken to Facebook to share a snap of the receipt, describing the customers as a “truly genuine couple”.

“You, my friends, have huge hearts,” the message to them read. “Myself and my staff are extremely grateful for your generosity!!”

According to the owner of the restaurant, Jamie Kloiber, the tip was distributed between the “entire” team– including, “front of the house and back of the house”.

“What a SPECTACULAR way to start their day! A true reflection of human compassion,” he continued.

The thoughtdful gesture has received some great feedback by Facebook users, with may of them calling the couple's move “selfless” and “kind”.

“Faith in humanity is restored. Absolutely generous and kind people,” one said.

“Some people have the gift of generosity. Sharing the tip with the other employees was very selfless. This story made my day!” another added.
