Nigella’s stale bread hack is going viral - for all the right reasons!

Sustainable and delicious!

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson has shared the ultimate way to use up any stale bread you may have in your pantry.

Taking to Instagram, she explained how she transforms a plain spaghetti with the staple by simply turning it into flavoursome lemon and garlic breadcrumbs.

"I always relish an opportunity to use up ingredients that are past their best," she wrote.

"The thing to do is make breadcrumbs with stale bread whenever it's to hand."

Nigella revealed that she blitzes the bread in the food processor to make the breadcrumbs, as opposed to grating them the "old-school" way.

The chef then opts to "Stash the breadcrumbs in airtight bags in the deep freeze and use whenever needed, without thawing first."

After posting the hack, fans were quick to mention they'd already tried it.

"Did this for tea, it was sooo good and easy," one wrote.

"Love this dish. I must say that it also works well with GF (gluten free) spaghetti. So flavoursome," a second added.
